A new star in the highest speed-constellation

16 May 2016  07:57 PM

His name is Max Verstappen, born on September 30, 1997, is from Belgium but has been registered with FIA under a Dutch Passport. He participated for the first time in Formula 1, with the Australian Grand Prix 2015, at the age of 17 years, five months and 15 days setting a record of precocity.

His debut was so controversial that sport authorities had to modify regulations to limit income to a minimum of 18 years and tighten the conditions for getting the mandatory “super license” and therefore being able to compete in an official race.

He competed in 23 races with Toro Rosso, based in Faenza, which is actually a stone quarry from which the larger organization, Red Bull, is nurtured.

Just a couple of weeks ago, it was decided that Daniil Kvyat, member of the biggest team, was level down to promotion, and exchange him for Max so he can elbow with the elderly, after his promotion.

After had always defended that the age is not a reason to be criticized and that his skills and his confidence in those, should be the parameters to be judged instead, he said magician’s magic wand should be needed to show he is right saying that in Verstappen, there is a great driver still in development.

Helmut Marko, undisputed counselor for the representative teams of energy drinks and of course mentor of the evolution of the German driver four-time champion, Sebastian Vettel, named himself responsible of the exchange of seats and it result fabulous, far beyond all expectations.

With a perfect career: serene, accurate, unattainable and without a trace of pity, like an experienced driver, Max didn’t allow Kimi Raikkonen to displace him from the top; once he took it from his teammates’ hands Daniel Ricciardo and Vettel, who previously owned that honor of being ahead of the 22 racing cars.

He crowned a piece of art and along with that, the huge feat of being the youngest driver in winning a Grand Prix ever. At age of 18 years with 7 months and 15 days; bursting the previous register that once belonged to Vettel, since Italian GP 2008, when he accomplished it at age of 21 years, 2 months and 11 days.

This milestone leaves in second place the fact that he underwent his Ferrari rivals and his teammate. During a race when both drivers from Mercedes collided a short time after of having started the race. When the Mexican Sergio Perez finished seventh and his compatriot Esteban Gutierrez, finished eleventh.

It was always about the here and now timely. Being in the right place at the right time and knowing to steal the crown of laurels to the opportunity.

At his start number 24 Max Verstappen crowns daring. Therefore: honor whom honor deserves.
