01 August 2017  06:16 PM

Formula 1 World Championship drivers and teams are about to enjoy a well-deserved vacations.

For over three weeks, the big circus will have to take a mandatory break, since all its members will be able to enjoy more time with their families before the season starts, on August 27 with Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Vacation period will begin after the second tests sessions that will take place this Tuesday and Wednesday at Hungaroring. The first one took place in April, after Bahrain race.

As the checkered flag fell in every Grand Prix, and after all teams pack all their equipment and return to their respective headquarters, activity won’t stop. All collected information must be reviewed and everything must be set up during the weekend for the next race.

There are also a dozen of people working at the headquarters during Grand Prix’ weekend, some of them monitoring in real time each car performance on the track.

This is why, since 2009, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) introduced on the F1 Sport Regulation, an article where a period between months of July and/or August which stipulates a vacation break for all teams.

The article 21.8 states all competitors shall consider a consecutive 14-day close during the time when two consecutive events are away from at least 24 days in the months of July and/or August.

During this break, no affiliate team shall carry out or instigate any provider to carry out activities for the team.

All those works that cannot be carried out include: Usage of wind tunnel, CFD Emulation computers handling, producing or developing car parts, car o car assemble, as well as any activity executed by employees, consulters or subcontractors in charge of the design, development or production; excluding work on the circuit where the succeeding race of the vacation period will take place.

Each team had to choose if taking this pause right after all training within Hungarian season or working for one more week.

All teams gave notice to FIA of the exact vacation dates 30 days before the campaign beginning.

Some teams rather work for a few more days after the Grand Prix in order to review every car’s details and make sure that there is no problem with them before setting the work program to follow prior to the subsequent date.

As for some head drivers, vacations have already began, given that different teams summoned their test drivers or their new talents to participate during the rehearsal dates at Hungaroring.

By this way, all teams’ members will be able to get away for a few days, from the bustling job that commands queen category, thus they will return clear-minded to face the second half of the season, when Formula 1 Gran Premio de México will take place at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez from October 27 to October 29.
