26 October 2019  06:50 PM

  • ·            114,917 fans packed the grandstands and enjoyed an exciting day of Formula 1® action

    ·            Max Verstappen takes pole position and is now poised to win the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO for the third consecutive year

The second day of the best F1®ESTA of the year came to an end, having drawn a total of 114,917 fans who started arriving at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez at around 10:00 a.m. to continue enjoying all the activities that the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO 2019 has prepared for them.

The drivers took to the track of the Magdalena Mixhuca complex for the third and final practice session, which was uneventful. An exciting qualifying session saw Max Verstappen take pole position and thus gain a superb position to potentially take his third victory at the Mexican race. However, the young Dutchman has his work cut out for him, with both Ferraris close behind and the possibility of snatching victory away from him at the Mexican race.

During the day, several drivers stopped by the Fan Forum, where they got up close and personal with fans, signed autographs, and took selfies with a few lucky ones. Mercedes development driver Esteban Gutiérrez was joined by McLaren’s Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris, as well as the local hero, Racing Point’s Checo Pérez, ending the proceedings on a high note. As expected, it was the Mexican driver who drew the biggest crowd, all the fans wishing him the best of luck for tomorrow’s race.

On day two, motorsport fans were treated to the F1® qualifying session and the first 16-lap race of the exciting Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. There was also a race with the young future stars of the Formula 4 NACAM Championship, and the legendary Pan American Race had its qualifying session.

We are just a few hours away from finding out who will be crowned winner of the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO 2019, and whether Lewis Hamilton can secure the Drivers’ Championship for the third consecutive year on Mexican soil. Sunday, October 27th promises to be full of adrenaline, with the roar of the cars on track and thousands of fans cheering for Checo Pérez at the best F1®ESTA in the world.
