When Michael Schumacher hung up his helmet and retired from Formula 1, many thought his record of 91 wins in the sport would never be matched. But today at the Nurburgring, Lewis Hamilton did exactly that when he crossed the line to win the Eifel Grand Prix.

It was not a simple lights-to-flag win for the reigning World Champion though – after starting from second on the grid he took the lead off the line but almost immediately lost it again to pole-sitter Valtteri Bottas, who braved it out around the outside of Turn 1.
