FACTS OF MEXICO GP

08 November 2016  11:50 AM

It happened and has been happening six times throughout 2016 that the first ten finishing the race – and owners of the points on the raffle- correspond to drivers who work in five different teams: Force India, Williams, Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes

During rematch, Red Bull has pulled out the best of it, since its distance from Ferrari is bigger on the Builders’ vice championship battle. The advantage for those from Austria is 62 units, where there are only 86 points left to win.

Among drivers there are some peculiarities to stand out.

19th Esteban Gutierrez although he is indebted with his fans who cheered themselves hoarse, at least he left a printed mark: since it has been the second time throughout the years, when two Mexican drivers get classified to a final racing the Grand Prix: this time, he and his teammate got it.

Just like once Pedro Rodríguez did in 1964 who finished sixth and Moisés Solana, who finished tenth.

11th Marcus Ericsson made it to the final as in time as he could, on board his Sauber but it was not enough and two stages left before ending, he abandoned such sad situation, so far is the only team without any points.

Rolling and rolling like a stone: The Swedish helm got to 69 laps with the same medium tires, as well as Jolyon Palmer on board Renault, but finished in 14th.

10th Sergio Pérez was far from showing what the respectable audience expected. He could not decipher an overrun of the driver he had in front of him just like a nightmare during plenty of turns. If it is, he could get a tiny little point. However, he left the impression of being performing short of Force India’s frame standards.

9th Felipe Massa who knows where he got the inspiration from, in order to obtain two points of approximation to the 10th position in the Standing, only one point away from Fernando Alonso

He has completed 250 registrations, where having performed 248 starts is the case. He will close his path in Abu Dahbi, reaching then the number of quarter of thousand starts. He didn’t race in 2005 at USA’s GP and also didn’t do it in 2009 at Hungarian’s.

8th Valtteri Bottas put the gas to the metal, when reaching the 372.5 kph. This has surpassed what once was reached by Kimi Raikkonen in Monza 2005; if it is true that he missed only one kph to equal Juan Pablo Montoya’s top speed, also at the Italian GP in 2005

7th Nico Hulkenberg even no one at the tribunes wished it that way, he had a better result compared to his teammate; like he did before at the Belgium’s GP and Germany’s. However at the positions char he is still 25 points behind the Mexican’s wheel.

5th Sebastian Vettel experience a huge frustration while not getting for himself, a podium that the authority has given him away and then: took it back. Therefore, he is not going up to the three first steps since Italian GP that took place in Monza. They are now half dozen of races where he gets nothing.

This is no new for him, since at Germany GP –Hockenheim– in 2012, he had been degraded to the fifth position.

Consecutively there are a couple of races where he slightly leads at some turns. This time they have been 12 laps. Reaching with them a total of 2,697, therefore, surpassing Prost and only behind: Michael Schumacher (5,111); Ayrton Senna (2,931) as well as Lewis Hamilton (2,876)

4th Max Verstappen has kept this position, following orders from people who are not drivers but judge all the time: then it is how, the fourth time that – officially- he finishes in fourth place in the arrival. If it is true, that has been the first occasion in his all career, when being third at the starting grid, he doesn’t step up to the podium.

His first year –incomplete– at Red Bull service comes with good profits: he is sixth in the positions chart, 10 points away from Vettel and only one from Raikkonen

His team reaches five podiums one after the other: four gotten by his teammate and one by him.

3 rd Daniel Ricciardo got a podium out of nowhere. It belonged to Verstappen, after the Dutch was sanctioned: it was for Vettel and before the punishment imposed to the German: it finally was for the Australian.

With this carom an important portion of the world tournament was determined: DR has secured the third place in the Standing 2016. Reaching 242 units and Vettel only 187, there is no way to reach Daniel

After this GP the Australian has added points for 15 times in a row; just like he did in 2014 since GP in Bahrain until USA GP. Also Carlos Alberto Reutemann had gotten so.

Only six more have gathered that good or better guts: Kimi Raikkonen owns the greatest record with 27 dates; M. Schumacher 24; Fernando Alonso 23; Vettel 21; Hamilton 19; Nico Rosberg, 17

An extra: The one with the eternal smile has owned the fastest lap of the race, driving four of these on this season (with 7.48%) reaching a total of 8, to equal James Hunt (8.70%), Gilles Villeneuve (11.94%), Ralf Schumacher (4.44%) and Jenson Button (2.64%) finishing at box number 37 as usual.

Taking into account the number of podiums, he’s gotten 18 already (16.82%). Two of them in a row and eight during the season, with this number he is placed in the usual statistics on the box umber 52; just like Mike Hawthorn (40%) and Heinz-Harald Frentzen (11.54%)

He has now nine GP’s reaching the third place, just like once did in their time: Niki Lauda, Keke Rosberg and Jody Sheckter

For Red Bull promotion has also been worth. Since GP Singapore they have had at least one of their drivers on a podium, this is five in a row.

On this overview Ferrari’s drivers have been left out.

2nd Nico Rosberg is a paradox itself since he will only need one more race to be crowned world champion; it had never happened before that a rudder accumulated nine triumphs without having been the globe monarch.

If he succeeds he will mark a milestone for being the crowned with the biggest number of victories. If he doesn’t he has already passed to the history as well with the current number of GP’s on his behalf without achieving the long-desired scepter.

With all the possible precaution, he has watched and guided his Mexican career not in order to win but also not to lose. Therefore he reaches the podium to achieve his time #55 (26.96%) and score the 12th seat in isolation.

He reached 14 steps in the year and seven in a row in 2015, he did it 15 times.

1st Lewis Hamilton very calmed adds one more triumph to his extensive experience in Formula 1 this way: matching now Alain Prost to be both of them the usual pair with so many victories: with no fewer than 51

In the Golden book that lists the most winners of all times, his number of won races is written as follows:

1 Michael Schumacher  91 (29.64%)

2 Prost  51 (25.63%)

3 Hamilton  51 (27.42%)

4 Vettel  42 (23.86%)

5 Ayrton Senna  41 (25.47%)

6 Alonso  32 (11.81%)

7 Nigel Mansell 31 (16.58%)

8 Jackie Stewart  27 (27.27%)

9 Jim Clark  25 (34.72%)

=9 Niki Lauda 25 (14.62%)

11 Juan Manuel Fangio 24 (47.06%)

Within the 23 different circuits that LH has already won, there are still missing: Baku’s and Sao Paulo’s

He’s got eight during the current season, 30 in which PoleSitter and (50.85%); Ayrton Senna’s victory match with 29 coincidences marked (44.62%); only ahead Lewis is M. Schumacher’s number 40 (58.82%)

They are now 103 his “first rows” for the start

Taking into account his Pole Positions, this is the first one hi owns in Mexico; to reach 24 different tracks that he has perpetrated. And he has 59 (31.72%) in his credit coming third as usual.

In the case of counting the podiums, the British man has reached the 102 (54.84%); against Alain’s 106 (53.27%) and, Schummie’s 155 (50.49%)

The times he has pointed, in terms of completed races, it reflects that from 160 races in 150 he has been successful.

THE THREE-POINTED STAR

To break and set new records a good driver and a better car are needed. It may be that Mercedes’ AMG, model F1 W-07 is one of the best ever, you will define it. Here cold data are summarized.

It has won 17 races until today – one more than in 2014 and 2015 – achievement that no other team has accomplished before and consequently no car.

It’s got six doublets in 2016, two from which has been in a row. It adds his 18th Pole Position of 19 possible, only Monaco went out of its hands. However, they are 19 its first rows in the year.

Mercedes, as a team has 25 first rows consecutively, 71 Pole Positions in a row (48.63%) in the sixth place as usual. Its victories are 62 (42.47%) fifth place in the history and, 124 podiums that set them in the seventh position tied to Brabham, between the 57 Team counted and a total of 34 times finishing one-two.
