The #F1RedBullCDMX shook the Zocalo

28 June 2015  04:23 PM

Mexico City’s main square was shaken this Saturday by the powerful RB7’s V8 engines from the Infiniti Red Bull Racing team at the Show Run.

From 9 a.m. motorsports fans had fun with video games, electric race tracks and many other dynamics offered while waiting for the cars startup, although some of the spectators opted to take their seats in the grandstands installed at the place instead.

The event officially started with the sportscasters Luis Manuel ‘Chacho’ López, Marion Reimers and Duverman, who welcomed the Spanish driver, Carlos Sainz Jr. to hit the test track in the Zócalo in front of approximately 70,000 spectators at the Plaza de la Constitución and 20 de Noviembre avenue.

Toro Rosso’s driver showed confidence and versatility when driving the racing car with one hand, and even without using hands, while driving in circles on the esplanade.

A small exhibition of classic cars in prime conditions captured public attention.

A few minutes later, Daniel Ricciardo came out of the garage zone to show a little token of what will be the Mexican Grand Prix, on next November 1, in the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

It was also impressive to observe balconies and terraces around the Plaza de la Constitución both replete with F1 fans, from where they could perceive the smell of “burnt tire”, after drivers displayed their maneuvers in circles.

The plaza trembled to the sound of the Mexican driver’s engine, Gustavo Vildósola, on his Trophy Truck, who received the audience’s gratitude for his three-wheel tempering maneuvers just a few centimeters from them.

To finish the exhibition, the three drivers gathered together and showed their abilities aboard their respective cars, waving Mexican Flag to finish leaving that Formula1 scent behind.

“Mexicans are very passionate, Latinos, similar to the Spaniards. Thank you all for coming and sharing this huge moment with us, this was a preparation for what people expect to see at the end of the year”, said Sainz Jr. during the press conference.

“It was really fun and exciting driving here, it was a good show”, stated Ricciardo, who connected immediately with the audience.
