- In motor racing he is known as “The Mexican child prodigy”, given his great results gotten at such young age.
- At the age of 14 he left Guadalajara to try his luck in Europe.
- He made his Formula 1 debut in March 27th, 2011 at GP in Australia.
- In Formula 1 Grand Prix (GP Malaysia 2012); he was the first Mexican on getting onto the podium after 41 years, when Pedro Rodriguez did it in Holland 1971.
- He got his top position in GP Malaysia 2012 and GP Italy 2012, winning second place respectively.
- He got his biggest score in 2016, by getting 101 points then.
- Until now, Sahara Force India is the team where he has remained the longest period of time.
