AYRTON SENNA Still alive in FORMULA 1

20 March 2018  05:16 PM

Formula 1 is comprised by different sport disciplines thanks to all the myths created around it. Specially, given that some unique characters that have marked the history of the sport and have been recognized almost unanimously, have arose within.

Being a hero means something, but: being a martyr, it means much more

There are some shades that determine the great figures’ value and that has been stated when it comes to Ayrton Senna Brazil’s beloved son; he can be only judged to the top of a great sportsman and has been even revaluated as a model of human being, with the excellence.

Ayrton ‘s achievements as well as his epopee, have been the topic of thousands of press releases, and several books that talk about the magic of the Pauline, at the wheel. It is consequently more suggestive, trying to find- even in the fiction, the influence of Senna among drivers those days.

Lewis Hamilton reminds us of him, because just like AS, is a pure race animal born to compete. Sublimated Racers , who, without rival son the track, use to compete against the clock, in a chilling way. That is why they are amongst the best winners of Pole Positions, from 1950 till today.

The willingness of triumph that Sebastian Vettel has shown in his finest moments seems to be copied from the attitude shown at all times by Ayrton.

Max Verstappen owns AS precocity. From his first contact with the high-speed cars, the Dutch has been one of the bravest by trying everything. Reaching the limits and the most outstanding: transposing it.

Daniel Ricciardo is in the habit of being nice to everyone and getting along. The charisma of AS was different but no one was indifferent to it. The Australian is estimated, the Brazilian was loved; making a paradigm out of his temper.

Obsession and passion for the sport filled up his life and transformed AS in a public figure venerated for all times. His tenacity is also worth to be mentioned; nowadays who owns the same tenacity? Robert Kubica. If the three-time champion lived now, no matter the wounds: he would be fighting for the podium at Formula 1 again.

Formality, severity and a certain shade of humility to explain how wonderful it was AS, is on his own manner, brought back by Kimi Raikkonen, with no fuss.

Sergio Pérez is similar to him, in the difficulties faced by a Latin American in living amongst European people and giving up to many things left at home; amongst them, the bustle to stand out, though thick and thin. And what’s to say about the sacrifice and how much effort it took to AS in order to make it to the top, imposing.

Fernando Alonso is a driver who needs to fight every year to find a team and a car to lead him to the crown. Just like AS had to fight desperately for his last three years of life.

Competing under the rain, even though Lance Stroll has not shown enough yet, he seems to have that singular refined instinct that characterized AS.

Not feeling intimidated before the rival, not even against the barn colleague just like Esteban Ocon does, was always another feature of the three-time champion, Pauline.

Committing a mistake and learning from it, get up and keep on going just like Romain Grosjean does, as well as Kevin Magnussen in his own way: makes us recall that perfection is a quality that is pursued through the patience and perseverance, as “Beco” did (called that as his childhood nickname and by his closest friends).

The uncertainty about the future with the certainty of trying his best with all the devotion for the upcoming opportunities, has characterized to Magico: which is probably similar to what: Carlos Sainz, Stoffel Vandoorne, Charles Leclerc, Sergey Sirotkin, Brendon Hartley or Pierre Gasly may think and pursue.

The permanent challenge that forces them to reach for the impossible, as Valtteri Bottas, Marcus Ericsson, or Nico Hulkenberg do: was also something that characterized “O Rei”.

A prodigious aim and such privileged memory to face each and every new layout, as they were approaching, it seems that few of the thousands of drivers who have witnessed a car racing, have made it that evident as Senna used to. It’s a question of analyzing everything and waits…

Qualities and features that took Ayrton Senna to the throne of the immortal are reflected one way or another, in all and every one of the current drivers. But the shining light that illuminates the biggest idol in Formula 1, shines even brighter given the lack of a Brazilian idol on the grid nowadays.

Happy birthday, Ayrton Senna!
