Grievances, Cries and Waves in Mexico

GRIEVANCES, CRIES AND WAVES IN MEXICO

Gloves are gradually removed: today at the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MEXICO 2015® third free practice, we could witness Lewis Hamilton while claiming misbehavior from his Mercedes team mate, Nico Rosberg on the track; however, during the last rehearsal before qualifying rounds, the German driver finished first and Hamilton finished second. ‟Nico is not giving me any space”, said Hamilton on the radio to the team engineers, while moods were heating up towards to this afternoon qualification round. ‟You have enough space after you”, they answered, and the team left the two drivers to continue with the competition which started on lap one in Austin a week ago. Hamilton, the world champion, was really chatty this morning, first we listened him saying to the team how difficult it was “to control the tires” —it means, controlling their temperature to achieve a better performance—, and a few minutes later, he said he wanted to extend his time on the track for he felt the rear was “a little bit loose”. The practice began with, Checo Perez, the home favorite skidding in lap seven to keep going with Kimi Raikkonen Ferrari’s engine which almost burns down by the time the Finnish went out to the track on lap 10. “Is there any problem?” asked the team asked to Raikkonen, who answered “I’m running out of power” and had to apologize and abandon the race. One of the first positions during this practice was taken by Felipe Massa, the Brazilian driver who came to Mexico for the first time with team Williams, and won the two F1 races in 1991 and 1992 in our country. ‟It would be amazing to repeat that result now”, said the team Director, Claire Williams. But that seems impossible. Once Pirelli soft compounds were changed and the practice sessions toward qualification rounds began, Red Bull, Renault and Mercedes drivers quickly restored the positions order that we were used to see during season 2015. Valtteri Bottas from Williams finished seventh, two positions ahead of his teammate Massa. The first driver with soft tires on the front of the track was the Russian, Daniil Kvyat, setting a time of 1minute 21.530; but Rosberg surpassed him with a time of 1 minute 21.205, best time set during practice sessions. Hamilton used up a set of tires, chasing the German, but he couldn’t exceed him with a time of 1 minute 21.097, only 14 thousandths of second slower than car number six. This time left Daniel Ricciardo from Red Bull in third place, with just over one tenth of second less, followed by Sebastian Vettel’s Ferrari in fourth place. Vettel is the only one left out from Mercedes duo, on securing the pole position this season; on the other hand Hamilton, whose key to success in his defense of the world title, has been assuring pole position 12 times so far this year, in comparison to the three times achieved by Rosberg. Even though, Checo began the lap with a little mistake, he had a flawless ending: the Force India guy slowed down when returning to the pits, to greet the large crowd that attended the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez to see his hero. Perez finished in an important sixth place at the end of this session, with only two drivers from Mercedes, two from Red Bull and one Ferrari driver ahead. It seems like this young driver has the full intention to keep his promise and give and amazing show to the home fans this weekend.
