#FuerzaMex1co
The Formula 1® community unites in support of Mexico
- The F1 drivers, Formula One Management and the F1 community supports Mexico with the encouragement message #FuerzaMex1co.
This Sunday during the Japanese Grand Prix, Formula 1 drivers joined the Mexican Grand Prix organisers through the #FuerzaMex1co movement and issued a message for the Mexican community encouraging them not to lose hope as they deal with the aftermath of the recent earthquakes. With a banner with the phrase "YOU CAN NOT WRITE MEXICAN WITHOUT I CAN", the athletes took the opportunity to send some encouragement to those affected by reminding them that by uniting and working together they can come through difficult time.
This emotional international gesture of support from the multicultural F1 community is very similar to the global aid that has been received during the days following the earthquakes as people from different nationalities arrived in Mexico to help bring the country back on its feet.
Alejandro Soberón, President of the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MÉXICO 2017, commented: "Mexico is still standing and will come out of this experience even stronger and more united than ever, but much remains to be done. Working together, as we have done so far, we will soon come out ahead of this adversity. In spite of the immediate national and international assistance received, the restoration stage of the affected communities has only just begun.”
Only a few weeks ahead of the Grand Prix, Soberón added: “We want to make the most out of the global platform that F1 is by inviting the motorsport community – including fans – to join in and continue contributing ahead of our event and during these upcoming months. Over the last two editions of our Grand Prix, Mexicans have shown the world that we are joyful and energetic, we also want to use our event to show that, despite everything, we still remain the same.”
There are many ways to support the Mexican people during this time, every endeavour is deeply appreciated by the Mexican population. The main way in which the international community can aid is through financial donations.
